Land and Connect

Connection - Rest - Play - nourishment - nature - community

Come and remember what it feels like to JUST BE.

Reconnect with yourself

Join us around the fire and remember what it feels like to be held in community. Walk amongst the trees and swim in the ocean. Stand with the horses and let yourself be held. Eat, rest, dance, play, breathe. BE.

Connect back to nature, to each other, and most importantly to yourself.

We got you.

We’re Katie and Thirza, best friends on the beautiful Gabriola Island (the isle of the arts) on the west coast of Canada.

We wanted to create a retreat that felt like you were landing in a safe place and being seen and held by dear friends. A place where you could let go of your to-do list and remember what it feels like to just be you.

A retreat we’d actually want to go on.

So many of us are holding up our entire worlds on our own. Causing us to be tired and disconnected from our true essence. From our sense of liveliness, play, and that spark within us that makes us come alive.

Our intention with the Connected Retreat, is to create a feeling of safety while you’re in our hands. To help you remember what it feels like to rest, play, create, laugh, be silly, be nourished, be loved, be held, be seen, and very simply just be.

We believe that it is in this place where true healing happens and we would LOVE to create that for you.

What’s Included

  • Placed in shady little nooks around the 5 acres of Soul Farm Sanctuary, you’ll find the luxury canvas tents that you will call home for the duration of the retreat.

Each tent is fully equipped with a comfy queen-sized bed and bedding. So no need to pack any extra. From pillows to extra blankets, we’ve got you covered. Literally.

Sleep under the stars, close to the earth, and with the horses around you working on you while you dream.

Choose between going solo in your own private tent, or booking the shared option. Both come with Queen beds.

  • We’ve got all of your meals fully covered.

From breakfasts and lunches on the farm, to gourmet pizza on the beach, a big long table dinner, and a 24/7 healthy snack basket, we’ve made sure you will be nourished both body and soul (and that includes Thirza’s handmade chocolate).

All of it local and organic whenever possible, and all of it made with love.

Food sensitivities? No worries. Us too.

Once you’ve reserved your spot, we’ll ask you for any food sensitivities and we’ll make sure you’re well taken care of.

  • For 3 days of the retreat, we will meet with the herd as a group to receive their healing energies.

The horses will naturally ‘entrain’ you which means they will balance your heart rate, breathing, brainwaves, and energetic state to match theirs so that they can still spot a predator.

The heartmath institute has done studies on this to explain what horse medicine is. This, with a lot of added intuitive feedback and information is what you’ll experience with the herd.

  • Join Katie in the gathering tent at your leisure in the morning to journal on a few prompts for the day.

Whether it be the prompts she creates for the group, or if you’d like her to create a few personally for you, take this morning's time to connect to that knowing inner voice within and see what emerges.

  • When you are in an environment, an energetic container, where you feel safe and connected, naturally things will rise to the surface. This is the most potent kind of healing because it is not forced.

Throughout our time together, we’ll be there for those moments when something comes up and you need a little individual support. Whether it’s a chat, a hug, a good cry - we’ve got your back.

We’re both very experienced with supporting people to work through the tough stuff and will be here if you need a little extra support.

  • Rest can be an illusive thing. Something we don’t allow ourselves to actually experience.

Not just surface rest, but deep true rest. The kind of rest where we let go and allow ourselves to fall into the feeling of being held.

If you need to sleep in, sleep in. If you need a nap, take a nap. If rest is what you need most, take it.

We’ve set up lots of opportunities for you to rest around the property. Whether it be your luxury tent, a hammock hanging beneath the trees, or a private outdoor massage, you’ll have plenty of time every day to let your body, mind, and soul fully unwind.

*Massages are booked on a person-to-person basis as an add-on option to the retreat.

  • One thing we wanted to make sure we didn’t do, was schedule the sh*t out of your day. Each day after lunch we’ve created space for free time.

Whether you choose to go to one of the many beautiful beaches, walk one of the many beautiful trails, paddleboard, explore the shops, hang in one of our hammocks, sit with the horses, take a nap, read a book, or do absolutely nothing - the choice is yours.

Whatever feels good to you, do that.

  • On two of our nights together we will gather around the fire. Come cozy up around the dancing flames with a blanket, a snack, and something to drink.

As humans, we have been gathering around the fire for thousands of years. It’s a place for connection and sharing stories. And something most of us don’t get to experience often enough.

Come sit around the fire with us and let it work its magic.

  • Feeling isolated and alone in our experience is all too common these days. There can be a lot of trauma and grief in feeling like you have no one to turn to. In feeling unseen in your experience.

Everything about this retreat is designed with connection and community in mind. There is immense healing that happens when you feel like you can lean into community and be fully held.

We’re ready for you with open hearts and open arms.

  • Fully Submersed in Nature

This entire retreat you will be completely submersed in nature. From sleeping in beautiful canvas tents in the great outdoors, nights around the fire, a sunset on the beach, eating alfresco, hanging from hammocks beneath the trees, you will be bathed in nature head to toe from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.

    Introverted Nooks

If you fancy yourself a bit of an introvert, we’ve got you covered.

There will be strategically placed hammocks set up around the property for you to go to if you need a little time alone. Curl up with a book, your journal, or just to close your eyes and take a nap.

If you need time alone, take it. As much of it as you need. No questions asked.

    The Gathering Tent

Full of blankets and pillows and all sorts of cozy things, the gathering tent is just that, a place to gather. Whether it be our breakfast and morning card pulls, journal prompts with Katie, or a place to rest and chat with a friend. It will be where we all come together and available for you to use whenever you like.

    Morning Card Pulls

Come into the gathering tent every morning and pull a card for yourself. With an abundance of decks to choose from, you can tune into what one calls your name and receive a message to start your day.

    Ocean swims & Forest Walks

On the map you’ll receive when you arrive, we’ll point out the best swimming beaches and forest trails to enjoy. So during your free time if you fancy a dip in the ocean or a connecting walk amongst the trees, you’ll know exactly where to go.

Pizza on the Beach at Sunset

Join us for a sunset swim and pizza on the beach. Feel the warm sand between your toes and sip on a glass of bubbly while we celebrate being alive. At nightfall watch the sky light up with stars and the ocean light up with the bioluminescence.

    The Long Table Dinner

Join us for a long table dinner under the stars. Get dressed up and adorn yourself in something that makes you feel beautiful (and comfortable!) and sit down for a delicious meal and Katie’s famous margaritas!

A Visit to the Saturday Market

The Saturday market on Gabriola is a must-have experience. Hustling and bustling with local vendors you can find handmade soap, beautiful jewelry, freshly baked bread and scones, bunches of lavender, locally made skin care, music, fresh fruits and veggies, and much more.

    Optional Massage

If you’d like a massage under the canopy of the trees while you’re with us, let us know and we’ll book one for you during your free time at an additional fee.

Sleep amongst the stars.

  • LUXURY TENTS

    Sleep Amongst the Stars

Cozy up close to nature in these beautiful canvas tents. Let the horses do their work on you while you sleep and wake up to the morning sun shining through the trees and dancing on the walls of your cozy little abode.

  • GOOD FOOD

    Be Nourished

Every single meal, we got you. Whatever dietary restriction, we got you. 24/7 snack basket so you’ll always feel fed. Wherever possible we’ll offer you local, organic, and seasonal meals. All of it made with buckets of love.

  • HORSE HEALING

    Balance Your Energy Field

Work with Thirza Voysey through two group horse healing sessions. Stand amongst the horses. Let them reflect back to you the truth of what you need. Let them take and transmute what you cannot hold.

  • 1:1 SUPPORT

    Process and Release

We got you. If something comes up, come talk to us. We will be available for individual support throughout our time together. Whether it’s a chat on the beach, a hug, or someone to cry, laugh, or rage with we’ll be there.

  • AROUND THE FIRE

    Be Held in Community

Come and join us around the fire. Be amongst community, amongst friends. Laugh, dance, share. So many of us feel alone in our experience and starved of supportive, loving, and understanding community. Let us remedy that.

  • REST

    Actually REST.

If you need to sleep in, do it. If you need a nap, take it. If you want to lay in a hammock under some shady trees, lay away. We have intentionally baked in ample free-time every day so you can give yourself exactly what you need.

  • SATURDAY MARKET TRIP

    Shop Local Goods

Bring your market basket and a sun hat and join us on our trip to Gabriola’s famous Saturday Farmer’s Market. You’ll find handmade soaps, skincare, jewelry, art, organic fruits and veggies, freshly baked goodies and many other things.

  • FREE TIME

    Play, Move, Explore

Each afternoon we’ve set aside time for you to go out exploring on you’re own. We’ll provide you with lots of suggestions and a map of where all the best spots are. Hike, paddle, swim, shop, or read a book on the beach.

  • INTROVERT NOOKS

    Reconnect to Yourself

We’ve strategically placed a few introverted nooks around the 5 acres of Soul Farm. We get that sometimes the thing we need the most is time alone. Take a nap, journal, read a book, whatever you need. Take your time.

  • SUNSET SWIM

    Experience the Phosphorescence

On our second night, we will be heading to a sunny beach to watch the sunset and eat gourmet pizza and drinks to toast being alive. We might even be able to see the glowing phosphorescence in the water while we swim.

  • MORNING CARD PULL & JOURNAL

    Connect to Start the Day

Although not required (because you’re welcome to sleep in), Katie will be holding space for morning card pulls and journal prompts. Come with you coffee or matcha or whatever, and start the day by connecting to yourself.

  • LONG TABLE DINNER

Dress Up and Eat, Drink, Be Merry

Sit down to a long table dinner under the stars with good music and even better food. Dress up in something you feel beautiful and comfortable in and sip on one of Katie’s famous margaritas. Eat, drink, and be merry.

Although we have all of this amazingness going on, you always have a choice.

We’re not going to force or pressure you to do anything. If you come here and realize you just need to rest and join us whenever it feels good for you? Awesome. We encourage and celebrate you doing what you need to do for yourself. You know what’s best, and we’re here to support that.

FAQ

  • The Connected Retreat will be held on Gabriola Island. A beautiful gulf island off the coast of Vancouver. To learn more about Gabriola check out the Gabriola Tourism website.

  • Travel is not included. However, once you’re all signed up, we’ll send you a welcome package with all the things you’ll need to know including how to make it to our little island and a few little travel hacks to make your journey easier.

  • Gabriola Island is just off the west coast of Vancouver.

If you’re coming from Vancouver, you can either take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo (1 hour and 40 mins), or from Tsawwassen to Nanaimo (2 hours). From there, you’ll journey to the Nanaimo Harbour to board your second ferry (20 mins long).

We recommend Horseshoe Bay as it is a closer drive to Nanaimo Harbour and a shorter ferry ride.

In your welcome package, you’ll get more details on how to make your way to Soul Farm and other travel hacks to make your journey easier.

  • Yes! This is a women’s only retreat.

At the moment we don’t have a men’s, co-ed, or couples option, but if that’s something you’d be interested in for the future, let us know!

  • All meals and accommodation are included.

From breakfasts on the farm, to gourmet pizza on the beach, and a beautiful long table dinner, you’ll be well nourished throughout your stay with us.

We’ll even have a 24/7 snack basket with healthy bars and fresh fruit in case you get a little peckish throughout the day.

We’ll also have coffee, tea and optional alcoholic beverages around the fire and at dinner. You’re also welcome to bring whatever snacks or drinks your heart desires!

  • There are a few options for shower and bathroom facilities depending on your comfort levels.

We have an indoor shower and bathroom by the front door inside the main house you’ll be welcome to use at any time.

If you’re feeling a little outdoorsy, we have a covered outdoor shower for washing under the stars and an outhouse nestled away in the trees.

  • Got a few food sensititvies? Us too. We got you.

Once you’ve signed up, we’ll be sending you a little welcome intake form where you can let us know of any food sensitivities you may have.

  • If you’re afraid of horses, this may not be the retreat for you. However, if it’s a fear you’re looking to move through, this might just be the perfect place to do that.

We will always move within your comfort levels with the animals (and with all things) when you come to stay with us.

  • No refunds after June 30th, 2023.

If something happens after that date that makes you unable to attend, we’ll honour your payment as a credit towards a future retreat.

  • You’ll receive an official itinerary a few weeks before the retreat date. We promise you’ll be in good hands and you’ll always have the option to say no or yes and give yourself what you need.

  • Once you’re all set up and signed up, we’ll send you a list of things to bring so you’ll have plenty of time to prepare. Not that you need it. We’ll keep it simple.

  • If you’re walking on the ferry to save a little coin we’re more than happy to pick you up when you arrive. Just let us know beforehand and we’ll make sure someone is there to get you.

We encourage carpooling if you’re coming with a friend or friends. It will be nice to have a car with you during your free time.
